The media manufacturing arm of Taiyo Yuden has been acquired by JVC and will now be know as JVC Advanced Media.
The existing Taiyo Yuden product range will remain the same with all the quality and product features being
retained. Some packaging will now be branded JVC while the actual media remains unbranded as ever.
2nd Generation Water Resistant Surface
Developed due to the popularity of the initial Watershield finish, Watershield 2 provides a half way house between
the regular mat finish and the high gloss of Watershield. The manufacturer's test results show that the new
surface has the following properties when compared to regular printable surfaces:

- 116% More Brilliant Colour
- 100x Faster Dry Time

The label surface is white in color, and it can be printed using inkjet printers that support CD/DVD printing.
The wide print label surface offers a high degree of flexibility in printing.
The printing range is between 22mm (internal diameter) and 118mm (external diameter).
Besides oil-based pens, water-based pens can also be used for writing and drawing on the label surface.
High Quality printing with unique 'Watershield 2' finish developed by Taiyo Yuden
The disc label surface is coated with a newly-developed, special coating, which fixes only the ink dye on the
surface to achieve vivid prints with a high color saturation level of 116% or higher (see Note 1) and also little
bleeding.
The smoothness of the label surface is enhanced, and the level of glossiness, which surpasses that of conventional
products by at least seven times, both contribute to a brighter and more attractive printed image.
The “Watershield 2” disc comes with a label surface that supports inkjet printers, and excels in the basic
capabilities in label printing. Its overall printing performance is unparalleled by other conventional disc
products that support inkjet printing.
The “Watershield 2” disc product not only boasts a safe quality (in recording and playback) as a “made in Japan”
product, but also allows the label surface to be printed with a high picture quality almost comparable to photos.

Quick Drying and Water Droplet Resistant
The special coating on the disc label surface dries only the ink dye and fixes it in place quickly, and has
achieved a high level of water-resistance that is at least 40 times that of conventional products.
Bleeding is also minimized when water droplets fall onto the surface after printing.
Not only so, the coating also significantly reduces color fading due to storage under high humidity.
